Young Dolph Update
Young Dolph Murder Suspects Update. According to reports, another suspect was charged in the murder of Young Dolph.
Not only that—the latest suspect allegedly facilitated the shooting. According to local Memphis news, 43-year-old Hernandez Govan was indicted on multiple charges.
Specifically, first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder by a grand jury.
He’s believed to be responsible for orchestrating a hit on Dolph months before the shooting took place. Apparently, Govans’ first-degree murder conspiracy dates back to June 2021.
Ultimately, this shows he premeditated the murder long before the incident occurred.
As previously reported, Adolph ‘Young Dolph’ Thornton Jr. was gunned down in November 2021 while visiting his hometown of Memphis.
Of course, he stopped at his favorite cookie shop where he was a regular just like he’d do any other time.
Unfortunately, Dolph was targeted by his assailants and shot during that faithful visit to Makeda’s Cookies.
Well, Justin Johnson and Cornelius Smith are among those indicted alongside Govan.
Here’s a statement from Shelby County DA Steve Mulroy:
“Mr. Govan has been indicted and is in custody for being involved in the Young Dolph murder. He played the role of the person who solicited the murder.”
Apparently, Smith and Johnson pleaded not guilty, but remain behind bars. Both await a January 2023 court appearance.
Also, a 27-year-old man Shundale Barnett, has been charged with accessory after the fact. Allegedly, he assisted Johnson after the shooting—but remains at large.
Additionally, Govan has a history of run-ins with the law. He’s served time for drug and weapon charges in the past.
I don’t see that working in his favor, but helping jurors quickly decide his fate.
