Interview With Comedian Mike Ross: Kat Compares Himself To Eddie Murphy?

This is an age-old debate in the comedy world. Who is the king of comedy? In his interview with hosts, O’God and SamAnt comedian Mike Ross provides his thoughts.

Who Is King Of Comedy?

Comedian Kat Williams compares himself the Eddie Murphy. Williams really believes he is the greatest comedian. But in comparison to his work, he has 16 to 100 city tours, as reported by The Blast via Atlanta Black Star. Also, Williams admitted he does not get the recognition he deserves. Williams goes on to say this, “Because the guy that you’re saying is crazy and maybe a crackhead has outworked you every second that he has been a peer of yours.” In addition, Williams said, comedians, others may think are the greatest, only have one show.

As a comedian on the circuit now, Mike Ross did his best to set the record straight on Williams’s possibly saying. And, he really did a great job of analyzing. Ross talked about the great accomplishments of those comedians who have come before him and Williams. In his analogy, Ross talked about those comedians who could be immortalized on an Mt. Rushmore mural (Redd Foxx, Richard Pryor, and Eddie Murphy.

Many would agree that Redd, Richard, and Eddie are some of the greatest comedians of all time. However, it is difficult to say who is “King of Comedy.” No doubt, others would have added comedians Paul Mooney, The Wayans,  and Steve Harvey. Especially since each of these iconic comedians has impacted comedy in some form or fashion.

I think Ross made some very valid points. Williams talked about the body of work he has compared to Eddie Murphy. Murphy has not done stand-up comedy since the 80,s. So, how can you compare Murphy’s work to today’s comedians? Some would disagree with Williams.

When we mention big names such as Redd Foxx, Richard Pryor, and Eddie Murphy, they are in a class by themselves. Truthfully, it would not be easy to place all comedians into one category. Every one of these comedians mentioned has its own delivery style.  Whether or not you agree with Williams, it is really a great conversation piece. Overall, this was a great interview with comedian Mike Ross. See for your selves.
