According to Rolling Stone, the only adult defendant, Corey Walker, will go to trial in June 2024. Three other defendants were tried as juveniles. A 15-year-old was the alleged shooter of the rapper.

Basher Jackson, aka Pop Smoke, was murdered in a home invasion. All three men under the age of 17 are in prison for juveniles. Each man will be held until they are allegedly 25 years old.

Keandre Rodgers(18) and two juveniles, ages 17 and 15, were convicted of Pop Smoke’s murder.

Lone Adult Defendant to Stand Trial

In a surprising turn of events, the murder trial Pop Smoke’s fans have been waiting for is coming up. Corey Walker was the only adult alleged to have committed the crime.

He will be on trial by himself as a result of his involvement with the death of the rapper.  The defendant’s role in the tragic event will be closely scrutinized as the case unfolds.

According to Complex, Corey has pleaded not guilty to one count of murder.

Prosecutors in the case claim Corey Walker allegedly“facilitated the crimes by not only surveilling the crime scene before the crimes were committed but serving as the researcher, getaway driver, weapons provider, and planner of this home invasion robbery.” 

He was allegedly on the phone while the others were inside the Hollywood home.

His former attorney, Christopher Darden, claimed that his ex-client “did not plan this crime” and served as the driver who “remained outside in the driver’s seat.”
