Ice Cubes’ BIG3 League Makes History. O’Shea ‘Ice Cube’ Jackson Sr. is perhaps best known for his time spent in NWA. As well as, his solo and acting careers.
However, in 2017 Cube ventured into the business world of basketball. Since its inception, his BIG3 league has helped reinvent the basketball careers of some of the most beloved former NBA players.
Specifically, Allen Iverson and Nick Young. Not to mention, it introduced a new generation to some legendary players as coaches.
Coaches Michael Cooper, Gary Peyton, and Rick Barry—alongside Clyde Drexler who serves as league commissioner.
So far, this league has birthed five championships. Recently, Cube and his cofounder Jeff Kwatinetz celebrated another victory.
The three-on-three league officially got recognized by U.S. Black Chambers, Inc. and ByBlack as the first and only Black-owned sports league!
As a result, they’re able to directly foster relationships with other Black chambers nationwide.
