Missy Elliott wins MTV Video Vanguard Award. Missy broke the glass ceiling for females in hip hop. Missy’s creativity is both innovative and futuristic. There is no other hip hop entertainer who has broken barriers like Missy. Missy is a visionary. Missy is simply a legend. And, her performance was simply phenomenal on the VMA’s last night.

Although, Missy had not performed in 16 years. Last night we saw a female hip hop artist who still knows how to get the crowd on their feet. Missy had the audience dancing and screaming each time she belted out one of her hits. Missy was so deserving of the Vanguard award. Other recipients of the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award were Jennifer Lopez, Brittany Spears, Pink, Justin Timberlake, Rihanna, Kanye West and Beyonce. Missy speech was really impressive:
“I love y’all. I promised I wouldn’t cry this time because I cry at every awards show,” and emotional Elliott said as she held her Moonman. :This Michael Jackson Vanguard Award means so much to me. I’ve worked diligently for over two decades and I never thought I would be standing up here receiving this award.”
Missy dedicated her award to all of the dancers around the world, as reported by Huff Post. Fans tweeted how Missy changed the game of hip hop forever. Congratulations goes out to one of hip hop’s royalty, Missy Misdemeanor Elliott.
