Raiders Owner Interested In Colin Kaepernick. It’s been six years since Colin Kaepernick played in the NFL. Could he get a second shot?

Kneeling For Justice

Raiders Owner Interested In Kaepernick. Before his NFL career, Colin Kaepernick made history at the University of Nevada. His college stats alone set him apart.

Colin finished college with over 10,000 passing yards. As well as, more than 4,000 rushing yards. Not to mention, he remains the only college athlete to reach such high numbers.

In the 2011 NFL draft, the Broncos and 49ers changed selections. This move proved to be essential for San Francisco.

Ultimately, they selected Kap in the second round. He wasted no time living up to the hype.

He carried the Niners to the 2012 Super Bowl. Unfortunately, the Niners fell short to the Ravens.

Furthermore, Colin began using his platform to fight against injustices. At a game in 2016, he took a knee rather than standing for the National Anthem. Over time, this peaceful protest became his signature.

Some teammates and fellow players even joined him in solidarity.

At the core, Kap was raising awareness about the violence and senseless killings of Black people.

But the league wouldn’t have it. As a result, they black-listed him. Thus he hasn’t had a contract since.

A New Beginning

Apparently, Colin filed a grievance citing that the league conspired to keep him unemployed. As a result, it’s been six years since Colin Kaepernick played an NFL game.

Following a settlement, he expressed that he’d consider playing again. Well, Kap might get that chance after all.

In a recent interview, Las Vegas Raiders owner Mark Davis expressed interest in him. Mr. Davis clarified the decision would ultimately be up to the GM and Head Coach.

Kaepernick, now 34 certainly stayed in tip-top shape over the years. He’s fully confident in his ability to play at a high level.

Here’s what Davis said about the situation:

“I believe in Colin Kaepernick. He deserves every chance in the world to become a quarterback in the National Football League. I still stand by it. If our coaches and general manager want to bring him in or want him to be the quarterback on this team, I would welcome him with open arms.”

Could this be the start of something historic? Additionally, Mark Davis explained:

“I think Colin is a very misunderstood human being. I’ve gotten a chance to talk to him. I never really knew Colin, and I didn’t understand him. I didn’t understand the kneeling, what that meant initially. Over time, I have learned a little bit more about it.”

Lastly, Davis tied it together. He confirmed he stands with Colin Kaepernick:

“In the same vein, Colin Kaepernick has sacrificed a lot of the things that he could have been doing in his life to get a message across about police violence and equity and inclusion in America,” said Davis. “I stand by that.”

Who knows what the future holds. Without a doubt, Kap’s return would be highly anticipated. It’ll bring in some of the most viewers in NFL history.
