Nia Long Speaks About Scandal That Caused Her Partner To Be Suspended By The Celtics

Actress Nia Long is speaking up after she was blindsided by Ime Udoka, her fiance.

Udoka is the head coach for the Celtics basketball team.

Because of a scandal that broke out involving him, he is now suspended from the team.

Announced on Thursday, The Boston Celtics say 45-year-old Udoka is out for the entire 2022-23 season due to ‘violations of team policies.

Though they did not give details about the violations, a source reveals that the coach had an inappropriate relationship with a female Celtics staffer.

Ime Udoka and Nia Long, who share a 10-year-old son together, have been engaged since 2015.

Even though Nia has since stated that she has no plans to marry.

51-year-old Nia also has a son from a previous relationship.

Breaking her silence on the matter, Nia says she is focusing on her children and asks for privacy at this time, stating –

“The outpouring love and support from family, friends and the community during this difficult time means so much to me. I ask that my privacy be respected as I process the recent events. Above all, I am a mother and will continue to focus on my children.”

During his first year with the team, Udoka led the Celtics to an Eastern Conference title and an NBA Finals appearance.

Long cheered him on regularly at courtside.
