Lauren Proclaims “The Marathon Continues”
Lauren London Speaks At Nipsey Ceremony. Nipsey was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. And, his finance spoke on his behalf. Ironically, today is Nipsey’s 37th birthday.
This was a phenomenal honor. Although, he did not live to see this great honor. Lauren stood on that platform and delivered a powerful speech. Clearly, Lauren was very emotional.
However, she was able to speak about Nipsey’s contribution to the community. She ended her speech by saying “The Marathon Continues”, as reported by The Source. Those words resonated with me.
Especially since I believe the words she shared. We are all destined for greatness. But many people never live to realize their potential. However, Nipsey was able to accomplish a lot.
Nipsey Supported The Youth In Crenshaw
In a short amount of time, he helped to empower his community. He provided employment at his clothing store, (The Marathon). Also, he created the recreational center “Vector 90.”
Vector 90 is a center where youth learn computer literacy. In addition, Vector 90 provides science, and mathematics classes. As we all know underserved communities have difficulty with services.
When Nipsey saw a need in Crenshaw he met it. His involvement with “Destination Crenshaw” showcased the history of African Americans in the neighborhood.
More importantly, Nipsey helped to educate former gang members about better opportunities. I must agree with Lauren, Nipsey understood the assignment he was given.
Therefore, he was able to educate and empower youth.
