Rapper Nas Joins Resort World’s $5 Billion Casino Expansion.
According to Forbes, the $5 billion expansion is a redevelopment project. The casino will be designed in a full-fledged Las Vegas style. Nas claims the plan will also include the Jamaica Queens neighborhood.
In other words, the casino will bring employment to residents of Queens. There will be lots of amenities, including 1,600 new hotel rooms at the Hyatt Regency.
There will also be a 7,000-seat entertainment space, a dance club, and a spa. In addition, Resorts World’s parent company is planning a 3,000-employee housing unit.
More importantly, there will be a new community park with improved transportation.
In a statement, Nas spoke about “the vision behind the state-of-the-art entertainment and gaming destination,” as BET stated.
He went on to say,
“This is an ambitious project that will give new opportunities to the hard-working families who call Queens home, attract top-tier talent, and build up the next generation of leaders. Clearly, with this project, the world is ours,”
During the announcement, RWNYC pledged $50 million in start-up funding. Even more impressive, Kenny ‘The Jet’ Smith gave his endorsement by saying,
“Resorts World came to me with a clear goal of fostering tomorrow’s athletes, student-athletes, and leaders both on and off the court,”Smith said. “Their investment in this Academy will help us teach the next generation the nuances of the game on and off the court, as well as the social, economic, and cultural impact of sports. I’m thrilled to partner with them to improve the borough that raised me and take it to the next level.”
Robert DeSalvio, president of Genting America East, stated his vision was to expand throughout the “Empire State.” With this new venture, his vision and Nas are becoming a reality.
Many people will benefit from the casino expansion, especially if the project is like Atlantic City Casino’s heyday. When Atlantic City casinos were built, they brought prosperity.
Those communities in Atlantic City benefited greatly. The residents realized many employment opportunities. In return, the casino industry helped to revitalize the shore town.
So, this new venture with Nas and RW promises to be lucrative.
