Mos Def Defends His Comments On Drake Being A Pop Artist. Rapper Mos Def, also known as Yasiin Bey, has recently spoken out to clarify his views on the perception of Drake as a pop artist. Bey, known for his distinct style and thought-provoking lyrics, challenges the widely held belief that Drake should be categorized solely as a pop artist. In a recent interview with ‘The Cutting Room Floor, ‘ he allegedly compared Drake’s music to shopping. In other words, Mos Def does claim Drake is allegedly not a rapper.

Known for his lyrical prowess and bold statements, Mos Def has clarified his views on Drake’s label as a pop artist. According to Complex, Mos Def clarified his comments about Drake’s music.
Earlier in January, Mos Def shared this,
“Drake is pop to me,” the one-half of Black Star said. “In the sense, like, if I was in Target in Houston and I heard a Drake song… It feels like a lot of his music is compatible with shopping.”
It appears Mos Def may have started a beef with Drake. However, this was brewing for some time. After Drake released his poetry book ‘Titles Ruin Everything’ he allegedly fired shots at Mos Def, by saying,
“where the baddest Instagram girls in the world review my poetry book, not the head of the Mos Def club…”Thanks.”
That may have sparked the light beef between the two rappers, as stated by Complex. Having said this, it appears Mos Def is setting the record straight.
On a new Instagram post, Yasiin Bey aka Mos Def, shared “he does not hate anyone.”It’s only his opinion, claims Mos Def. He went on to say, he was not trying to slander Drake’s name, as stated by Revolt.
So far, Drake has not responded to any of what Mos Def said. But don’t hold your breath; Drake may sound off soon. Having said this, Mos Def is willing to have a sit down with Drake.
