Michael Jordan’s Nike story origins of the Air Jordan brand are about to be unfolded in a new movie.

Alex Convery writes the upcoming biographical comedy-drama which highlights the game-changing partnership between a rookie MJ and Nike.

Ben Affleck will star in the film, as well as direct it.

This marks the first film produced by Affleck and Damon’s new company Artists Equity.

Affleck will play Phil Knight, a billionaire businessman, and Nike chairman, who co-founded Nike and was the former CEO.

Matt Damon is in the role of Sonny Vaccaro, a shoe salesman at Nike who works to sign Michael to a deal to wear their shoes.

Other stars in the film include Jason Bateman, Marlon Wayans, Chris Tucker, and others.

Additionally, recent EGOT recipient Viola Davis has a special role as MJ’s mom, Deloris Jordan.

Michael’s mother recognizes her young son’s potential and is instrumental in brokering the deal with Nike.

Of course, he would go on to arguably become the greatest player in the history of the NBA.

‘Air’ is set to hit theatres worldwide on April 5, 2023.

From there, it will launch on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories.
