The 32-year-old NFL star has been charged with felony strangulation or suffocation and misdemeanor assault and battery, according to court records released on Tuesday.
The Alleged Incident
The charges stem from a December 2 dispute at Diggs’ residence in Dedham. According to a police report, the alleged victim—who served as Diggs’ private chef—said the altercation began over unpaid wages.
The woman told investigators that after a heated exchange regarding her compensation, Diggs allegedly:

Threw her onto a bed before exiting the room.
The employee reported the incident to the Dedham Police Department on December 16, initially hesitating because of Diggs’ high profile, before deciding to formally press charges on December 23.
Diggs And Patriots Respond
Stefon Diggs has “categorically denied” all accusations. His attorney, David Meier, released a statement saying the allegations stem from a financial dispute that was not resolved to the employee’s satisfaction.
“They are unsubstantiated, uncorroborated, and were never investigated — because they did not occur,” Meier stated.
The New England Patriots organization has also issued a public statement supporting their star receiver:
