A community event sponsored by Blac Sam, Nipsey’s Hussle brother, had their annual giveaway—each year, Blac Sam partners with his slain brother’s foundation to give back to the South LA community.
This event took place in front of “The Marathon,” Nipsey’s clothing store. Samiel Adghedom and actress Lauren London were seen distributing turkeys and food.
The Watts Foundation and the Nip Foundation gave away over 5,000 turkeys, according to CBS News. Nipsey’s brother, Sam, shared this.
“This is where my brother first sold his mixed tape. He ended up opening businesses in this parking lot and then buying the whole lot,” “We turned this whole lot into the Neighborhood Nip Foundation. So, it’s real important to be able to activate from here.”Asghedom said.”
As you all know, rapper Nipsey Hussle was gunned down in 2019 in front of his clothing store. Many in the rap community and people at large were devastated by Nipsey’s untimely death.
Since then, his fiancée, Lauren London, and his son’s mother have continued his foundation. Nip Foundation has been instrumental in keeping Nipsey’s legacy alive by providing food and other community support.
By partnering with local organizations and businesses, Nipsey’s Foundation has made a difference.
Providing Support To Families In Need
One of the main ways the Neighborhood Nip Foundation fulfills its mission is by providing support to families in need. The Nip Foundation partnered with Think Watts Foundation to pull off the turkey giveaway.
With the growing food disparities in the United States, this giveaway was necessary. The Marathon store has been converted into a community center for elementary through high school students.
Young people are offered academic and music studies at the Marathon store location. Keep in mind that Nipsey started his rap career by selling mixtapes at that location.
It was Nipsey’s mixtapes that led to his discovery. And, he went on to become one of the most celebrated rappers in the game.
That is why continuing his legacy at that location is essential for his family. More importantly, the Nip Foundation is committed to empowering the South Los Angeles community.
In doing so, many young people will be allowed to succeed. TMZ reports, as Lauren London was in attendance so was popular radio host Big Boy.
As we mentioned earlier, Nipsey’s entrepreneurship within South LA has helped bring communities together.
His legacy will forever be appreciated as his Nip foundation continues to make a difference. To top it off, volunteers wore a yellow and blue shirt with Nipsey Hussle’s picture with young students.
While Nipsey’s family continues to mourn his death, they have not stopped giving back to those less fortunate.
