Curtis Jackson is known for his outspoken nature; this time, it was aimed at New York City Mayor Adams. Jackson was interested in why the Mayor had decided to distribute prepaid cards to migrants.

In an Instagram post on Saturday, February 3, 2024, the rapper expressed dissatisfaction with the move. During his post, he questioned the $53 million that would be given to migrants.

This amount of money would be distributed to the migrants in prepaid credit cards, as stated by The New York Post.

Here is some of what 50 Cent shared,

“WTF mayor Adams call my phone, I don’t understand how this works 🤷🏽‍♂️somebody explain,” the rapper wrote after sharing a screengrab of the Post’s coverage. “Can’t explain this I’m stuck maybe TRUMP is the answer.”

The rapper’s critique highlights the ongoing debate surrounding allocating resources for migrant aid. While some argue that it is the moral duty of the state to support migrants, others, like 50 Cent, believe that the government should prioritize its citizens first.

According to Complex,

“The prepaid cards will be distributed to 500 families in short-term hotel stays to start. However, the cards can only be used at bodegas, grocery stores, supermarkets, and convenience stores. Migrants must also apparently sign an affidavit promising to only spend their allotted funds on food and baby supplies or risk being kicked out of the program.”

In other words, these families will be allegedly given $1000 per month, up to $35 daily. This is a pilot program from Mayor Adam’s administration.

But we can see that it is not going over well with some people. If you have not heard, thousands of migrants were sent to New York.

They are now being housed in the Roosevelt Hotel. However, they showed up without money. Therefore, Mayor Adam’s administration came up with a plan.

This migrant issue has divided many because of the ramifications of the situation. Many residents in NY are already grappling with numerous socioeconomic challenges.
