Will Pooh Shiesty Get Life In Prison?
Will Pooh Shiesty Get Life In Prison? There are times when young rappers make life-altering decisions. And those decisions can end their careers. In 2020, Memphis rapper Pooh Shiesty signed a major deal with Gucci Mane’s 1017 Records, a pivotal move that propelled him into the national spotlight. Under the legendary rapper’s mentorship, he quickly became the label’s breakout star with the release of his multi-platinum hit single “Back in Blood.” But it has all gone up in smoke.
Why Rapper Pooh Shiesty Could Spend the Rest of His Life in Prison
Memphis rapper Pooh Shiesty (legal name Lontrell Williams Jr.) is once again facing a severe legal battle. While many fans thought his legal troubles were behind him. Especially after a high-profile release from federal custody. However, a major development in 2026 has put his freedom in serious jeopardy.
Here is a breakdown of why the “Back in Blood” artist is currently being held without bond and could face up to life in prison.
From Early Release to a New Federal Indictment
To understand his current predicament, it helps to look at his recent history. In April 2022, Pooh Shiesty was sentenced to 5 years and 3 months in federal prison. This all happened following a plea deal involving firearms conspiracy charges in Florida. This was detailed by KIRO 7 News. Thanks to credit for time served and good behavior, the rapper secured an early release from federal custody. And on October 6, 2025, Pooh Shiety was given another chance. He immediately returned to music, dropping a comeback single and celebrating his freedom. However, his freedom was short-lived. In April 2026, federal authorities arrested Williams again. Throwing him back into a high-stakes legal battle that carries far heavier penalties than his previous conviction.
The 2026 Gucci Mane Studio Incident & Kidnapping Charges
The primary reason Pooh Shiesty could now spend the rest of his life behind bars stems from a violent confrontation at a Dallas, Texas recording studio.
According to federal prosecutors and court affidavits reported by CBS News, Williams and eight other co-defendants—including fellow rapper Big30—allegedly orchestrated an armed takeover during a contract dispute involving Gucci Mane’s 1017 Records.
The FBI affidavit alleges that:
-
Williams arranged a meeting at the studio under the guise of discussing his contract terms.
-
Once inside a private recording room, he allegedly produced contract termination paperwork and pulled out an AK-style pistol, forcing the label’s representation to sign.
-
The victims were reportedly robbed at gunpoint of their jewelry, including a wedding ring, a watch, earrings, and cash.
Because the victims were allegedly held at gunpoint and forced to comply against their will, federal prosecutors hit the group with severe charges, including conspiracy to commit kidnapping and armed robbery.
Why “Life in Prison” is a Real Possibility
Under federal law, conspiracy to commit kidnapping is an incredibly severe felony. If convicted, the statutory maximum penalty for these charges is up to life in prison.
Compounding his issues, a federal magistrate judge noted that Williams has a history of noncompliance, including reportedly violating home confinement rules linked to his prior Florida conviction. Because he is considered both a flight risk and a danger to the community, the judge ordered him held without bond pending his federal trial.
While his defense attorney has raised questions regarding the prosecution’s timeline and evidence, the gravity of the federal kidnapping indictment means that if a jury finds him guilty, the 26-year-old rapper could spend the rest of his life behind bars.
