Suga T Speaks About The Weaponization Of Hip Hop!!!

Has Hip Hop taken it too far? Is there a plan to destroy the minds of our young? Whatever happened to positive messages from hip-hop? The discussion on Hip Hop News Uncensored by guest Tenina “Suga T” Stevens.

Is Hip Hop Destroying The Fabric Of Black Lives?

E-40’s Sister joined the Hip Hop Uncensored Podcast to Chop it up about how Hip Hop Is being weaponized against the Youth.SUGA-T is an American rapper and actress from Vallejo, California. She is a founding member of The Click, a rap group that also includes her brothers E-40 and D-Shot and her cousin B-Legit. The California native released her solo album “It’s All Good” in 1993, as reported by Wiki.

Stevens knows hip-hop culture. And during her interview with hosts O’God and SamAnt the conversation she provided her opinion. Her take on the current state of hip-hop was phenomenal. Also, it was good to have the perspective of a seasoned veteran in the game.

Throughout the conversation, there was a re-occurring theme about intergenerational dysfunction related to the issues with the Black community and in hip-hop. Has the music industry found a way to destroy the Black community by using hip-hop as a weapon?

Is hip-hop the catalyst to glorify sex, violence, drugs, and the degradation of women? And, if so, how do we stop the negative messages sent by today’s hip-hop artists. O’God presented an analogy of categories for hip-hop music  (Slut Rap, Drug Promotion, Conscience Rap, and Gangsta Rap). I agree with his analogy. Why isn’t it a balance in what is being presented in hip-hop?

This well-educated Queen really talked about the issues our Black communities are facing. Stevens has become a change agent within the industry. Currently, Stevens is working tirelessly as a performer, author, speaker, vision partner coach. She is the founder of “Sprinkle Me Enterprise.” In addition, she operates “Sprinkle Me School of Music and Vision.

What Can Be Done To Stop The Self Destruction In Hip Hop?

Is there a way to stop the madness? How can we all do our part to change the trajectory of the direction hip-hop is going in? Personally, when I look at what has happened to hip-hop music, it is heartbreaking. I agree with Steven becoming part of the solution rather than the problem.

At some point, we could self-destruct. We have enough issues within our communities without contributing to them by glorifying all negative.

Do we have to buy into an art imitating life? As Black people, we have more to offer than sex, drugs, violence, and other harmful lifestyles. We are all affected in some way by drugs, sex, violence, and death that are perpetuated in some hip-hop music. However, hip-hop is not the only way to promote change.

Change has to come from programs that promote positive lifestyles. Having this dialogue with Steven was necessary. This was a great interview.
