Megan Thee Stallion Gets A Win In Court Against A Blogger. Ultimately, Megan wanted Milagro Cooper to stop talking about anything concerning her life. But that did not happen. And, this case could serve as a precedent against other similar situations.

Megan Thee Stallion Secures Legal Win Against Blogger

Grammy-winning artist Megan Thee Stallion (born Megan Pete) has secured a significant courtroom victory in her long-standing legal battle against blogger Milagro Cooper, known online as Milagro Gramz. While a Miami federal jury found Cooper liable for her actions, a recent ruling by Chief U.S. District Judge Cecilia M. Altonaga has denied Megan’s request for a permanent injunction, citing First Amendment protections.

A “Decisive” Jury Verdict

In December 2025, a nine-person jury ruled in favor of Megan Pete, finding Milagro Cooper liable on several counts, including:

  • Intentional Infliction of Emotional Distress: The jury acknowledged the severe psychological toll Cooper’s content took on the rapper.

  • Promotion of an Altered Sexual Depiction: Cooper was found to have violated Florida law by amplifying a sexually explicit deepfake video of Megan to her followers.

  • Defamation: The jury initially found Cooper liable for spreading false claims, including allegations that Megan committed perjury during the Tory Lanez trial.

The jury initially awarded $75,000 in damages, though this amount was later reduced to approximately $59,000 due to Florida’s specific legal requirements regarding “media defendants.” Despite the lower payout, Megan is also eligible to recoup significant legal fees, which her team estimates could exceed $1 million.

The Denial of a Permanent Injunction

Despite the jury’s findings, Megan’s team sought a permanent injunction to prevent Cooper from further contacting her or posting about her. The proposed injunction would have required Cooper to:

  1. Maintain a physical distance of at least 500 feet from Megan and 1,000 feet from her performances.

  2. Refrain from any direct or indirect contact.

  3. Remove all past statements and postings regarding the trial verdict.

However, in April 2026, Judge Altonaga denied the request, labeling it a “classic example of a prior restraint on speech.” The judge ruled that the request was overly broad and that the need for an injunction did not outweigh Cooper’s First Amendment rights to future exercise of speech. Under Florida law, injunctions are generally not available to stop a person from “uttering insults or falsehoods” before they occur.

Background: The Tory Lanez Connection

The lawsuit, filed in October 2024, alleged that Cooper acted as a “paid surrogate” and “mouthpiece” for Tory Lanez, who is currently serving a 10-year sentence for shooting Megan in 2020. During the trial, evidence surfaced showing that Cooper had received payments from Lanez’s father, Sonstar Peterson, for what she claimed were personal and promotional matters.

Megan testified about the devastating impact of the coordinated harassment, stating that at one point, she genuinely didn’t care if she lived or died. While the lack of an injunction means Cooper is not legally barred from speaking about Megan in the future, the verdict serves as a major legal precedent regarding the accountability of online personalities and the spread of AI-generated deepfakes.
