Big Sean Contemplated Suicide. In a interview with Michael Eric Dyson Sean spoke very candidly. What Sean did took courage, to say the least.
Big Sean goes public with his struggle
Big Sean contemplated suicide. While some of us have heard Sean has issues with depression. Personally, I was not know aware to what extent. Often times when depression is discussed you don’t hear all of the dynamics. In this case, Sean gives details of his ordeal, as reported by Complex. Here is some of what Sean shared:
“I for sure contemplated suicide a lot of times, having guns in my hand, feeling it for real … planning it out to the point where I said, ‘Hey, if I do kill myself, at least my family will get this amount of money. I did this already,’” he said. “Because I was just stressed out and not happy. I realized that OK, I need to stop everything I’m doing and figure this out or I’m going to self-destruct.”
It is very important to hear how this negative self talk plays out in the mind of someone with depression. To the person, dying is a viable option. When in fact committing suicide is not.
Hopefully, after hearing Sean story others will seek professional help. Especially, since a famous celebrity like Sean has shared has opened up about his struggle with depression.
Not to mention, the depth of suicide ideation is a real issue for those who have decided to end their lives by suicide.
Thankfully, Sean did not kill himself. In fact, he was able to get past those negative thought patterns. And, by doing so, got the professional help he needed.
I pray what Sean shared encourages others. With that said, if you suffer with suicidal thoughts or depression you can call the National Suicide Hotline. Also, if you know someone who suffers with any mental illness don’t judge them. Instead, be kind and supportive.
One other thing, men are more often likely to use more lethal means to kill themselves. Such as Sean did with the gun (Glock 17).
