J. Cole’s Surprising Apology To Kendrick Lamar
J. Cole’s Surprising Apology To Kendrick Lamar. Hip-hop fans were surprised when J. Cole, one of the genre’s most respected artists, formally apologized to fellow rapper Kendrick Lamar. The unexpected gesture has sparked fan speculation about future collaborations between the two acclaimed musicians.

This issue with two rappers started with a diss song. Apparently, ‘Like That’ was a direct shot at Drake and J.Cole, as Complex stated.
The song with Metro Boomin on his new album ‘We Don’t Trust You’ was released. The song ‘Like That’ had a verse allegedly refuting the concept of ‘Big 3.’
In other words, Kendrick, J. Cole, and Drake are the ‘Big 3.’ Although the alleged diss from Kendrick was directed more toward Drake, J. Cole felt it.
Having said this, that is when J.Cole fired back with his own alleged diss. Apparently, since the beef was re-ignited, J.Cole has a change of heart.
As US Mag stated, J. Cole issued a public apology during his performance at the Dreamville Festival.
He addressed the crowd by admitting the beef ‘does not sit well with him.’ In other words, J. Cole would rather make peace with Kendrick. It appears J. Cole has some remorse about everything.
Therefore, he is extending an olive branch to Kendrick.
Unexpected Gesture Of Reconciliation
It is not often that a rap beef ends with reconciliation. However, in this case, there could be a cease-fire if Kendrick accepts J. Cole’s public apology.
Personally, I think J. Cole’s apology was a great example. Since he admitted his part in the alleged feud, it says a lot about his character. Often, rappers never come to a place of reconciliation.
The media does not help to bring about positive change within hip-hop. Instead, most media outlets magnify the situation.
While some would admit J. Cole should not have apologized, others would agree that J. Cole is staying true to himself. His fans are not used to seeing J. Cole in the midst of controversy.
So, taking the time to apologize to a fellow rapper is huge, in my book. What do you all think? Did J. Cole do the right thing or not?
