Clifford Harris Gives Back To His Community
T.I. Is Creating Affordable Housing. It has been since 2001 since Harris ventured into real estate.
He mentioned this was a way to diversify his portfolio. In fact, Harris as become quite wealthy as a result of real estate investing.
In fact, his $50 million dollar fortune is partly due to investing. According to AfroTech, one of his homes is valued at $2 million.
Harris recognizes the need for affordable housing in the Bankhead area. His focus was once in commercial real estate.
However, Harris has shifted towards residential properties. Also, it is a way for him to give back. Here is some of what he shared,“Real estate was the first step that I took to diversify my portfolio,” T.I. said. “I started buying and flipping houses in 2001 with my uncle. As it grew, I just went from residential to commercial and just continued to buy, build, and grow. And now it’s grown to a place — I’m about to complete my first real estate development, mixed-use affordable housing right on Bankhead where I grew up at. Just seeing how much good use I can put my money to, you know what I mean? Because there was so many times I could have went and bought things that were more liabilities than assets, and I have still done that too, but I see how much more value the money can bring not just [for] myself, for others as well. That’s how we can build communities, you know what I mean? Not just have our money represent us, but have our money represent our communities as well.”
This is a good way for gentrification to be halted. In other words, it may keep residence in their neighborhood.
In addition, he believes the culture of Bankhead is worth preserving.
Especially since, the residences have a right to stay in their own neighborhoods.

Not to mention, underserved communities can really benefit from improvement. To top it off, Harris has partner with company Moolah.
They have provided tablets to Morris Brown college students. Along with WiFi services for the entire semester.
Thankfully, Harris understands the importance of helping those less fortunate. Hopefully, other celebrities will follow his lead.
Or at least, he is setting a great example. And, I am sure the residence will be grateful.
