As we watch the National Football League select the best college players, there is something amiss. There is no doubt that Shedeur Sanders is one of the best quarterbacks in college football.
So, what happened in the NFL draft? How is Shedeur not in the top five QBs chosen for the NFL? Well, there seems to be something other than performance at work here.
And, in my opinion, it appears to be some haterade going on here. In other words, is Shedeur not being chosen another way of saying he is “too confident”
Let’s not act like being your person and speaking up for yourself is not an issue, especially as it relates to Black men.

Therefore, what is the difference between the Mannings and the Sanders? I will leave it to you all to answer that question. With several highly touted QBs available, teams opted not to select Shedeur.
It makes me wonder if this was all just a ploy to boost ratings? Could this be a hidden agenda of the NFL? Old folks used to say, “There is something fishy in the water.”
Impact Of Sanders’ Position In The Draft
According to ESPN, the Shedeur Sanders saga has gone from unexpected to inexplicable. One of the top college QB picks plummeted from the first round. At this point, will Shedeur be selected at all?
And, if so, who will be the fortunate team to recruit his massive talent? As of today, Shedeur was still waiting to be selected, and it is the fourth and fifth rounds.
Time and time again, we have seen the NFL use its platform to make a statement. When examining Colin Kaepernick’s career, several notable incidents stand out.
Arguably, Colin was one of the best players in the National Football League (NFL). All that did not matter because he took a crucial stand for injustice.
So far, we have not seen any team bring Colin back to the NFL. It appears that any effort to stand for what you believe is not celebrated.
Keep in mind, there have been other NFL players who were not selected in the draft. Case in point, Tom Brady. The Super Bowl champion was picked in the 6th round.
However, Tom Brady went on to win Super Bowl victories in 2002, 2004, 2005, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2021. Need I say more?
In the case of Shedeur, that very thing can happen. USA Today reported that Shedeur said, “We all didn’t expect this, of course, but I feel like with God, anything is possible; everything is possible.”
He went on to say,
I don’t feel like this happened, you know, for no reason. All this is of course, fuel to the fire. And under no circumstance, we all know this shouldn’t have happened. But we understand we on to bigger and better things. Tomorrow’s a day. We’re gonna be happy regardless. Legendary.”
Whether he was picked in the first or the fifth round, like the others, Shedeur will have to prove his worth. Oftentimes, NFL first-round drafts don’t live up to the expectations of the game.
How Will Things Plan Out For Shedeur Sanders?
Hopefully, Shedeur will leave it all on the field. Or at least, prove why he is considered one of the best players today.
In conclusion, Shedeur Sanders’ draft slide has been a surprising turn of events for the highly touted quarterback prospect. As he prepares to embark on his professional career, Shedeur will need to work hard to prove himself.
With his family and famous father backing him, Shedeur will surely come out a winner. No matter what our opinions may be, all of those football players selected have something to prove.
