Drake Crowned Biggest Rapper of 2021 By Spotify!!!
Turns out that Canadian rapper Drake is still breaking records. The streaming platform is the dominant force for listening to music. And, Spotify has named Drake as the rapper who is streamed the most in 2021.
Drake’s Success Never Ends
Rarely is Drake out of the headlines. If it’s not his music then it is who he is dating. Either way, Drake continues to remain relevant. Now, this news hits the presses.
Once again, Drake breaks records in music. No wonder, Jay – Z named Drake the Kobe Bryant of hip-hop, as reported by Biography. Drake began to have success when he joined the legendary rapper, Lil Wayne. Shortly after, Drake’s success got bigger and bigger, as reported by Vibe.
On June 15, 2010, Drake released his first studio album “Thank Me Later” after a series of mixtapes. The album debuted at No.1 on both American and Canadian charts and was certified gold, as reported by Biography.
In 2013 Drake won a Grammy for best rap album “Take Care.” In 2016, Drakes’s album “Views” debuted at No.1 on the Billboard 100 charts. And, the album spent 13 non – consecutive weeks atop the Billboard charts.
In 2017, Drake won a Grammy for” Hotline Bling” for best rap/sung performance. This brings us to Drake’s record “Scorpion” which shattered records over its 24 hours. The Associated Press reported totals of 170 million streams on Apple Music and another 131 million streams on Spotify. Drake’s streaming music picked up over the next several days, making Drake the first artist to top 1 billion streams in a week.
Drake went on to claim the 2019 best rap song “God’s Plan.” Certified Lover Boy has been listened to more than 381 million times by people around the world. And, in the United States Drake is the only hip-hip entertainer to have so many streams.
For this reason, Drake is hailed as Spotify’s most-streamed artist in the United States in 2021.
