Nico Ali Walsh is carrying the torch in boxing.
As he just happens to be the grandson of boxing great Muhammad Ali.
The charismatic boxer clocked Alejandro Ibarra in the first round.
No doubt, channeling the spirit of his legendary grandpa, the 21-year-old grandson of Ali was not here to play.
Wearing his grandfather’s trunks, and bearing his likeness tatted on his arm, Walsh had a great night.
Though the main event was the fight between Shakur Stevenson and Oscar Valdez, the outcome of the Walsh/Ibarra fight was unexpected.
Since his debut as a professional boxer, Walsh has already won 5 bouts.
And this time, it took less than 3 minutes to have his opponent laying on the mat.
At 21, this marks the 5th professional victory…he’s the one to watch.
With just 20 seconds left in the first round, a left hook and right-hand combination, left Ibarra stunned.
Before gravity pulled him to the floor, he was already unconscious.
He didn’t even get a count, as referee Russell Mora called the fight, declaring Walsh the winner.
Roaring to their feet, the crowd started chanting, Ali, Ali, Ali, Ali, Ali!
Giving his grandfather praise, here is what Nico Ali Walsh said about his win –
“This is just a testament to all the work I’ve put in. Things like this happen when you put in the effort. I’m bringing my grandfather back to life, and that’s why mom is so excited, because she gets to see her father again and hear her father’s name before me,” he said.

Incidentally, the headlining fight between Shakur Stevenson and Oscar Valdez had Stevenson taking home 4 belts.
