Maxi Priest Sends Help To Jamaica After Storm Melissa Hits

Maxi Priest Sends Help To Jamaica After Storm Melissa Hits. Jamaica, the famous reggae singer, is actively involved in relief efforts for Jamaica following the devastation caused by Hurricane Melissa, which made landfall as a Category 5 storm about a week ago. Fortunately for Maxi Priest, he had just taken a flight out before the storm hit the island. However, he has become part of the effort to serve the islanders affected.

Maxi Priest Donates to Aid Jamaica

Known for hits like “Close to You” and “Wild World,” he has made a generous donation to his fellow Jamaican brothers and sisters. As we all know, many are in hard-to-reach areas on the island.

According to BBC News, it is not just Maxi Priest who has joined the relief efforts. Shaggy and Luciano, other famous Jamaican entertainers, are banding together to support islanders.

They are asking for people to support by dropping off any donations. While Maxi Priest is in London, he and Luciano are urging people to get involved.

When hurricanes hit small islands, everyone must give. Often, just the smallest donation can go a long way.

If you are familiar with Jamaica, you know there are mountains. Oftentimes, mudslides and water damage make roads impassable. For this reason, relief may have to be flown in.

Bringing Relief To Jamaican Communities

So far, 30 people have died, with many casualties. Whole towns have been destroyed, with many left without water and food.

As always, volunteers from other countries have joined the relief efforts. Now that the airport in Jamaica has opened, more supplies can be brought in.

Shaggy has already sent a plane full of supplies from Miami, according to CBS News. He admits that his work to support his beloved island is personal.

In other reports, we found that around 70% of the island lacks electricity. Additionally, phone towers are down, making it difficult to reach people.

Therefore, some family members in the United States are unable to reach their loved ones. This complicates relief efforts because there is no communication.

And, it is hard to know who needs supplies. Despite the challenges, Maxi Priest, Luciano, and Shaggy are determined to help in any way possible.

By reaching out a helping hand, Priest is not only providing relief but also showing solidarity with his fellow Jamaicans in their time of need.

More importantly, hospitals on the island have suffered structural damage. Again, it makes relief efforts more challenging.

Nevertheless, Shaggy plans to remain in Jamaica to ensure that supplies reach everyone in need. If you want to support, you can donate to the Red Cross.

As we navigate through these challenging times, let us all take a cue from Maxi Priest. Let’s do our part to help in any way possible.
