Not only is the Mayor facing charges, but his wife, La’Quettta Small, is as well. According to Action News 6, the mayor and his wife are both facing some serious charges.
Allegations of both parents abusing their teen daughter started back in December 2023. La’Quetta is the superintendent of the Atlantic City school district.
So, for allegations of abuse to be made against her could end her career. Also, her husband, Mayor Marty Small, is facing the same consequences. That is when their trials start.
In other words, both Marty and La-Quetta could be out of career jobs. These allegations of abuse were made by their teen daughter.
Some of the details of the alleged abuse are very disturbing. For instance, Mayor Marty was accused of hitting his daughter multiple times with the head of a broom.
Another alleged incident claims the AC Mayor threatened to hurt her, then proceeded to slam her down stairs.
Then the girl’s mother, La’Quetta, was accused of punching her daughter multiple times. Can you imagine being allegedly beaten by both your parents repeatedly?
Keep in mind, both Mayor Marty Smalls and his wife deny the allegations. His legal team has stated that the allegations are baseless and part of a smear campaign to tarnish the mayor’s reputation.
Despite the denials, the AC Mayor and his wife are going to trial soon.
Details Of the Child Abuse Charges
As we mentioned earlier, AC Mayor Marty Small and his wife, La’Quetta, were accused of child abuse. Their then 16-year-old daughter claims both parents assaulted her on separate occasions.
According to Fox 29 News, the alleged abuse happened from December 2023 to January 2024. During the alleged incidents, the mayor’s daughter claims there were photos of the incidents.
Also, she claims the photos and taped conversation of her father threatening her were sent to her boyfriend. Both were charged and indicted on child endangerment on September 17, 2024.
Then, the Mayor was indicted with witness tampering in December 2024. Some reports claim that the teen girl was asked by her father to lie about the incidents of abuse.
She did not honor her father’s alleged request. Now, her parents are going to trial. Her mother, La’Quetta Smalls, has a trial set for December 1, 2025. On the other hand, her father’s trial is set for November 10, 2025.
