Taraji P. Henson Hosting The BET Awards Is A Return For The Actress
Taraji P. Henson hosting BET Awards this year is phenomenal.
‘Culture’s Biggest Night’ will be live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
Though she is excited to be hosting, this is not the first time the 51-year-old actress and singer held this gig.
As a matter of fact, Henson hosted last year’s BET Awards, and it was the top-rated cable award show among all adults 18-49 in 2021.
Clearly enthused at the prospect of hosting again at this year’s BET Awards, Taraji shared –
“I am honored to return as the host of the BET Awards and share the stage with so many powerful and prolific artists; you can even say it is the ‘empire’ of Black Excellence.”
“Working with amazing partners like Scott and Connie at BET and Jesse Collins Entertainment is a creative’s dream. I can’t wait to celebrate Black music, entertainment, and culture with our viewers on what will be one unforgettable night.”
After Taraji’s TPH Entertainment inked a deal with BET Studios, she is set to star in the musical adaptation of The Color Purple as Shug Avery.
That project will have our girl alongside Fantasia, Halle Bailey, Danielle Brooks, Colman Domingo, Cory Hawkins, and H.E.R.
Look forward to its arrival in theaters in December of 2023.
Connie Orlando, the Executive Vice President of Specials, Music Programming & Music Strategy at BET added this –
“Taraji P. Henson is the personification of Black excellence, and we are excited to collaborate with the phenomenal multi-talented stage and screen actress to host the ultimate celebration of Black culture again this year. For over two decades, the BET Awards has been home to Black brilliance, talent, and creativity, providing unforgettable cultural moments, and we look forward to raising the bar for BET Awards 2022.”
