Travis built up anticipation by not releasing Astroworld until this year
Astroworld in particular has been a marathon meal: Scott announced the album back in May 2016 and fans have been salivating ever since. Like Dr. Dre’s Detox or Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole’s rumored collaboration project, the anticipation was palpable. Scott released the lead single, “Butterfly Effect,” back in 2017, which has since been certified double-Platinum by the RIAA As a teaser before the album, he released “Watch” with Kanye West and Lil Uzi Vert as a snack to tide fans over, though it didn’t end up appearing on Astroworld. The song debuted in the top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100, according to Billboard.
