Lee Drilly x E-Wuu Music Video for BET leads to the arrest of over 20 alleged gang members.

But how did that happen?

All because of an investigation called “Operation Drilly”, authorities used drill music videos to track them down.

As described by the urban dictionary, drill music is a branch of trap music and is about the violent side of the streets.

“Drill is aggressive, dark, violent, and about guns and shootings” – according to the Urban Dictionary

Along with other drill music videos, BET was the main focus of the investigation by the NYPD.

Apparently, authorities believed that the crimes that were committed are bragged about in these videos.

Also, these visuals are available across YouTube.

And during a sweep, more than 20 alleged gang members in the Bronx found themselves caught up in the net of the gang crackdown.

As reported by the New York Daily News, those arrested are believed to be members of the G-Side/Drilly Gang, a sub-set of the Bloods Sex Money Murder gang.

Four of the members arrested are under the age of 18, and violent crimes carried out in the past 3 years led to an 82-count indictment.

In fact, 32 acts of violence over a period of 36 months were the highlight of the probe.

Shooting That Occurred In Broad Daylight Among Incidents Boasted About In Drill Videos

Among the many charges, one of the incidents boasted about in the drill videos was a shooting that occurred in the middle of the day.

Additionally, among the items seized were 18 guns, charges include –

• conspiracy
• murder
• attempted murder
• non-fatal shootings
• manslaughter
• assault
• stabbings
• criminal possession of a weapons
• wreckless endangerment
• grand larceny

According to the Norwood News, of all these crimes, most occurred in the area of East Gun Hill Road, Hull Avenue, and Decatur Avenue in Norwood and the surrounding areas.

And what did the Bronx DA Darcel Clark said –

“These defendants allegedly engaged in dozens of acts of violence, including murder and attempted murder, over the last three years, with the most recent just a few weeks ago.

“The defendants allegedly committed multiple shootings, some in broad daylight, killing two people and injuring innocent bystanders.”

“These defendants terrorized residents of the Fordham/Bedford Park neighborhoods who were forced to run for their lives as bullets flew.”

“We thank the NYPD for their intense work on this investigation. We are doing all we can to battle the gun scourge, but more must be done to deviate young people from a life of gangs and senseless violence.”

Also, New York City Police Commissioner Keechant L. Sewell had this to say –

“Today’s sweeping indictment highlights the focused efforts that continue to identify the relatively small percentage of people responsible for much of our city’s crime and disorder.”

“I commend the members of the NYPD’s Gun Violence Suppression Division and Violence Reduction Task Force, along with our partners in the Bronx District Attorney’s Office, for remaining steadfast in our obligation to protect New Yorkers in every community.”

“We vow to keep dismantling gangs and crews, and working hard to prevent the senseless violence so often associated with their activities.”

Additionally, three of those were charged with crimes that occurred at Riker’s Island, where a rival gang member was assaulted.

Even though citizens are presumed innocent until proven by a court of law, these alleged gang members are facing some serious charges.

However, if convicted of just the top count of conspiracy alone, defendants face a minimum of 15-25 years to a maximum of life in prison.
