Kelly Has Hired Attorney Jennifer Bonjean
The embattled singer has a very complex history with women. Through the years we have heard rumors of Kelly sexually abusing underage girls.
Apparently leaked tapes from attorney Michael Avenatti allegedly led to Kelly’s arrest. He was convicted on Sept. 27 on racketeering conspiracy charges, as reported by Black America Web.
A jury found Kelly guilty of 12 individual illegal acts, including sex with multiple underage girls.
In addition, Kelly allegedly bribed an Illinois public aid office to get a phony ID. The ID was allegedly for the late singer Aaliyah.
Sources are reporting, Kelly fired his legal team. And, he has hired Bill Cosby’s attorney. Attorney Jennifer Bonjean was very instrumental in getting comedian Bill Cosby out of prison.
She filed an appeal on Cosby’s behalf which led to his release. Of course, it is impossible to go into all of Cosby’s cases. Obviously, Kelly believes attorney Bobjean can win his case.
Why Did Kelly Fire His Legal Team?
Apparently, Kelly was not happy with his current legal team. Therefore, he fired two of his attorney’s Steve Greenberg and Michael Leonard.
Thomas Farinella and Nicole Becker are still a part of his team, as far as we know.
In July 2021, Kelly spoke with U.S. District Judge Ann Donnelly about his decision to fire his attorneys (Steve Greenberg and Michael Leonard).
Before Kelly fired Greenberg a brief hearing was held. During the hearing, Greenberg alleged that unidentified members of the defense team had ” documented mental health issues” and “can’t deal with stress”, as reported by Reuters.
Donnelly asked that the allegations be written out in detail. Henceforth, Greenberg and Leonard removed themselves from Kelly’s court appearance.
Keep in mind, Kelly needs to win his appeal or he faces 10 years in prison.
