Many new rap artists like Meek were given a standard music contract. However, Meek realizes he was allegedly taken advantage of. This is what happens to so many rappers.

In doing so, most of their rights to publishing, and control all aspects of their music and career. Nowadays, artists can remain independent. By doing so, they keep a large majority of their money.
In addition, music artists do not give total control to the music company. It becomes the artist’s responsibility to promote and manage their own careers.
Percy”Master P” Miller is a clear example of an independent artist. Clearly, no music label owns rights to any of his music. Nor are they in control of every aspect of his music career.
It appears that Meek now understands being independent. He is taking control of every aspect of his music. However, this might be problematic. Having said this, I hope Meek does not receive backlash.
Also, Meek admitted Drake made around $24m. According to XXL Mag, the song Meek collaborated with Drake “Going Bad” was a hit. But Meek did not make near as much.
