Drake Allegedly Suing UMG For Inflating K Dot’s Diss Track.
We all know that Drake is known for his smooth flow and catchy hooks and has been a powerhouse in the music industry for years. However, it appears that Drake is upset about the viral song created by K Dot.
A substantial legal battle is brewing between Drake and Universal Music Group. Kenrick Lamar’s diss track, “Not Like Us,” is a social media sensation.
Spotify, also named in the petition, is accused of getting a 30% discount on licensing rates. According to People, the popular streaming service(Spotify) allegedly recommended that listeners search for songs and artists.
As a result, “Not Like Us” almost broke the internet. In addition, Drake’s company claims a podcaster alleges Interscope paid them $2,500 to use bots.
In other words, the bots allegedly helped the diss track to reach 30 million streams on Spotify.
Allegations of Inflating Kendrick Lamar Diss Track
The lawsuit revolves around a diss track that K Dot released with Drake as an alleged target. Drake’s company also alleges that a UMG employee paid radio stations to play K Dot’s diss track.
As stated by Rolling Stone, K Dot’s diss track garnered attention for its truthful lyrics that resonate with many. In an interview with SZA, K Dot shared this,
During the conversation, SZA asked Lamar what “Not Like Us” — his scathing, smash Drake diss — “means” to him. Lamar reportedly laughed and replied, “Not like us? Not like us is the energy of who I am, the type of man I represent.”
But that is not what Drake’s company claims. They claim the diss track was “Artificially Inflated, “ and as a result, it was wildly popular.
Drake claims the label’s tactics were misleading and dishonest, leading to an unfair advantage for the diss track in the music charts. However, UMG has allegedly denied any of the allegations.
