ASAP Rocky: The Legal Battle Begins
A$AP Rocky Cleared Of Shooting His Former Friend.
Rakim Mayers was accused of shooting his former friend Terell Ephron in 2021. Los Angeles Times reported that A$AP Rocky and A$AP Relli got into a heated argument in North Hollywood.
It was alleged A$AP Rocky pointed a semiautomatic handgun at A$AP Relli and fired shots. A$AP Relli filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles County Superior Court alleging he was the victim.
The two former friends were meeting in Hollywood to resolve their issues. However, things quickly escalated, and A$AP Relli claimed that bullet projectiles/fragments hit him.
Fast forward, the incident was captured on video. Los Angeles police served a search warrant for A$AP Rocky’s home. During the search, multiple firearms were found.
He was arrested in connection to the alleged shooting of A$AP Relli. Shortly after his arrest, A$AP posted a $550,ooo bond and was released.
There were three weeks of testimony in A$AP Rocky’s trial. When the verdict was read, A$AP Rocky was found not guilty of shooting A$AP Relli, as stated by USA Today.
ASAP Rocky’s Response Was Epic
A$AP Rocky’s girlfriend Rihanna and family were present during the court proceedings. So, when the verdict was read, A$AP ran towards Rihanna, diving into her arms, as stated by TMZ.
He thanked the 12 jurors one by one as they left the stand, saying, “Thank y’all for saving my life.” A$AP Rocky also hugged and thanked his defense team.
I don’t think anyone in the courtroom expected such a response from A$AP Rocky. There was an atmosphere of excitement and relief by A$AP Rocky, his family, and attorneys.
If A$AP Rocky had been found guilty, he would have gotten 23 years behind bars. In this case, A$AP was acquitted of two felony counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm.
At the beginning of his case, A$AP did not take the plea offer. The plea deal would have given him three years of probation with a seven-year suspended sentence.
Instead, he chose to fight it out in court with his famous attorney, Joe Tacopina. As the rapper and his girlfriend Rihanna left the court, reporters swarmed them.
With the legal battle behind him, A$AP Rocky can now focus on raising his two sons with Rihanna. He can focus on his music career and move forward with his life.
