Fat Joe’s Grammy Loss To Chance The Rapper In 2017 Still Bites
Fat Joe’s Grammy loss in 2017 is still on his mind.
That year the rapper/songwriter/producer’s single “All The Way Up” lost to Chance The Rapper’s “No Problem”.
You can see both videos below.
As revealed in his recent interview in GQ, Fat Joe – real name Joseph Antonio Cartegena – is still feeling some type of way about it.
The category was Best Rap Performance.
Among the nominations –
- Chance The Rapper featuring Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz for “No Problem“
- Desiigner for “Panda“
- Drake featuring The Throne for “Pop Style“
- Fat Joe and Remy Ma featuring French Montana and Infared for “All The Way Up“
- ScHoolboy Q featuring Kanye West for “That Part“
Speaking on his loss, Fat Joe had this to say –
“I should have won the Grammy for Best Rap Performance 2017. Chance is a cool guy. But the Grammy should have come my way. “All the Way Up” was bigger.”
“Not only that, if people understood the culture, Remy and I were like Robin Hood and Cinderella. They could have done the ‘hood a favor and given “All the Way Up,” the f**kin’ Grammy. They gave it to Chance the Rapper—and for what? I’m not going to be disrespectful, but they gave it to him for a record I don’t even know no more.”

O.K., that was pretty good.

So what do you think, who would you choose to be the winner?
Throwing another Grammy loss into the mix, Fat Joe sounded off on his 2005 nomination.
The song was another one with Remy Ma titled “Lean Back“.
That loss also pissed off the 52-year-old record executive.
Check out what he had to say about that one.
“This is my point. I don’t even know what he beat us with. Do you understand? Same thing happened to us with “Lean Back.” We lost Best Rap Performance By A Duo Or Group in 2005 to, what’s these guys? What’s the guy with the girl, Fergie?”
Nominated in the category of Best Rap Performance By A Duo Or Group, at the 2005 Grammy Awards, the winner turned out to be the Black Eyed Peas.
They won for their single, “Let’s Get It Started“.
Now be honest, do you think Fat Joe should have come out as the victor in these contests?
