People can’t believe Ebro Darden, also known as “Ebro in the Morning,” was abruptly dismissed from the show. The Hot97 morning show has been canceled.
This news comes as a surprise to Ebro’s fans and listeners. For more than eight years, Ebro has been the host of the very popular show.
WBLS is one of Urban America’s hottest radio stations. Many in the New York area have listened to R&B music on WBLS for many years.
According to Complex, Ebro was not surprised by the radio station’s decision. He spoke about what he believes happened regarding the station’s decision.
One of the things Ebro talked about was who owns the radio station. Rumors are claiming the station is headed in a new direction.
However, Ebro claims the owners,
don’t give a f*** about Hip Hop, Black music, or the community his broadcasts serve.
Was it, as Ebro mentions, his alleged “shit talking, anti-Netanyahu, and anti-government” mindset that got him axed? Or was his time up on the station?
Of course, Ebro claims, the owners are allegedly looking to “get the bag.” In other words, the station is moving towards an alleged anti-black climate.
Keep in mind that Ebro’s entire crew, Peter Rosenberg, and Laura Stylex were fired, as TMZ reported. Here is the kicker: all of the major media outlets are taking a hit.
They are scrambling to renew licenses and other documents to remain relevant. Therefore, it may be other Urban radio personalities to be dismissed.
Controversy Surrounding Ebro’s Departure
Ebro claims that they have been after him for years. However, Ebro may be starting another show on social media. Some believe Ebro’s morning show has taken its course.
At the same time, others believe there is something fishy going on. Yet again, it could be the new political climate that has influenced WBLS’ decision.
Needless to say, Ebro will continue to make a difference in Urban music culture. As for his co-host, they don’t seem to be upset. In fact, Peter claims he is looking forward to what is next.
Nevertheless, Ebro’s audience has been riding with him since 2012. Now, they will have to direct their attention elsewhere.
Unless, as we mentioned earlier, Ebro will enter the podcast market. Only time will tell what unfolds in Ebro’s new journey.
