DVSN ‘s If I Get Caught gets help from Jay Z. Sampling his Song Cry from 2001, the Canadian R&B group manages to rearrange the classic seductively.
DVSN Channels Jay Z In Alluring New Single, ‘If I Get Caught’
DVSN released the sexy new music video for their single If I Get Caught.
And the intriguing track includes a sample of Jay-Z’s Song Cry from his 2001 album, The Blueprint.
Additionally, Jermaine Dupri is making a cameo appearance in the visual.
The R&B duo, consisting of singer Daniel Daley and producer Nineteen85 are on Drake’s OVO Sound record label.
In this cut, DVSN arranges the classic into a moral dilemma about infidelity.
Arguably controversial, the premise gives you a lot to digest.
You can see the video below, but first, check out a snippet of the lyrics to the song –
“Don’t forget I was a fly nigga when you got here (Hell, yeah)
Charismatic when you got here (Hell, yeah)
You knew about me when you got here
Now you’re trippin’, girl, it’s not fair
And you got my phone in your hands
Questions? Not again
How many times do I have to remind you if…”
“If I get caught cheatin’, that don’t mean I don’t love you.”
Directed by Andy Madeleine, in the music video, Daniel Daley is labeled “A faithful black man”.
While his best friend, Mal, who he’s hanging out with it is labeled, “The ‘Ain’t Sh*t’ Best Friend.”
The two hit the night scene.
However, Daniels’ lady love is left at home with her thoughts on just what the boys are going to get into.
Though the story unfolds from a man’s point of view, the theme is universal.
But don’t get too caught up in the message, as there’s a twist at the end.
