Rapper Quavo Owes The IRS $3M
Rapper Quavo Owes The IRS $3M. Migos frontman Quavo is reportedly facing a massive financial setback as the federal government moves to collect a mountain of unpaid debt. According to recent reports and court filings from early 2026, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has hit the Atlanta rapper with a federal tax lien totaling nearly $3 million.
Quavo Facing Massive $3 Million Federal Tax Lien
Migos rapper Quavo (born Quavious Marshall) is reportedly facing a significant financial hurdle as the IRS has filed a federal tax lien against him. According to court documents filed in January 2026, the Atlanta native owes nearly $3 million in unpaid taxes and penalties spanning several years.
The debt, which stems from unpaid income taxes across the 2021, 2022, and 2023 tax years, has placed several of Quavo’s high-value assets at risk, including his luxury estate in Alpharetta, Georgia. This legal maneuver by the IRS marks a significant escalation in the rapper’s ongoing financial troubles, following previous state-level liens filed in 2025.
The Breakdown Of The Debt
The IRS claims that Quavo failed to pay his federal income taxes for the 2021, 2022, and 2023 tax years. The total amount, including back taxes and interest, is approximately $2,912,644.33.
The year-by-year breakdown of the alleged debt is as follows:
-
2021: $915,660.00
-
2022: $887,486.00
-
2023: $1,109,497.79
Assets At Risk
As reported by K-Jewel 99.3 FM, the lien places his property at risk, including his 11,000-square-foot mansion in Alpharetta, Georgia. A federal tax lien is the government’s legal claim against a taxpayer’s property when they neglect or fail to pay a tax debt. If the debt remains unpaid, the IRS has the authority to seize and sell assets to satisfy the balance.
A Growing Trend Among Hip-Hop Stars
Quavo is not the only former Migos member to deal with the IRS recently. His collaborator Offset recently cleared a seven-figure tax bill of over $1.5 million that had been a point of contention during his divorce proceedings. While Offset’s lien was released in December 2025, Quavo’s legal and financial teams have yet to issue a public statement regarding this new $3 million filing.
Despite these legal troubles, Quavo remains active in the music scene and is currently scheduled to headline the Mad Island Festival in St. Martin later this month.
Note: This tax lien follows a previous report in 2025 where Georgia’s Department of Revenue served the rapper with state liens totaling nearly $500,000.
