Kanye West Severs Ties With The GAP
Ye Negotiates With Black-Owned Brands. This will be a great business venture. Especially since Ye has parted ways with the clothing chain. A letter was allegedly sent to the Gap from his attorney.
As of Sept. 15th, Ye is no longer allowing his Yeezy’s to be promoted by them. In fact, there are rumors Ye has already sought out potential black-owned brands. We all know that Ye is a great businessman.
His apparel and sneaker brand have made him billions. According to Black Enterprise, Ye is the wealthiest Black American. His estimated net worth is around $6 billion.
Some of that wealth came from his partnership with Gap and Adidas. Somehow their partnership unraveled. Therefore, Ye is seeking to take his brand elsewhere.
The fashion industry is notorious for shunning black-owned brands. That is why the power and influence Ye has can help. I am sure many companies will bind for Ye’s clothing brand.
Not to mention, the impact he will have on the fashion industry. In addition, there are other celebrities who may follow. For instance, Dave Chappelle, Magic Johnson, and John Carlos are slated to do the same.
Of course, Magic Johnson has done a lot to empower black communities. Therefore, any merger between these powerful men is monumental.
In fact, Ye is considering partnering with Atlanta-based Nagast Footwear. Nagast launched in 2015. So far, Nagast has been very successful in foreign markets.
Also, their sneaker line commemorates powerful Black leaders (Nat Turner, Marcus Garvey). It would make good business for Ye to partner with Nagast.
