Tekashi 6ix9ine Denied Trademark, Facing Lawsuit
Tekashi 6ix9ine denied the trademark of his name.
The 26-year-old rapper – real name Daniel Hernandez – is in the news as of late for dissing jailed basketball star Britney Griner.
While in Russia, Tekashi blasted the WNBA player.
The Dummy Boy rapper is in the news for losing a bid to trademark his stage name.
Apparently, another artist by the name of Warren Hamilton Jr. has him in court.
Hamilton is also a rapper and has collaborated with Lil Wayne, 2 Chainz, Shawty Redd, and more.
Hamilton applied for a trademark back in 2014, and it was approved.
The lawsuit was filed in July after Hamilton claimed to have been using the stage name SIX9 for the past 25 years.
That’s well past the start of Tekashi’s career.
In fact, Hamilton is claiming that damage has already been done. According to the lawsuit –
“Many music organizers and booking agencies have refused to book live performance performances involving Hamilton because his trademark SIX9 is so confusingly similar or the same as Defendants’ infringing 6IX9INE mark.”
According to attorneys, Tekashi has yet to respond to the loss of the trademark.
