Will Diddy’s comments get him in trouble?
Diddy put the Grammy’s on blast. I think it’s about time someone in the music industry that has a platform spoke out against the unfair practices of the music show. I can remember eagerly awaiting the day the Grammy’s aired. This music show once showcased the talents of African Americans whose music was popular. But now not so much.
But in recent years the very same people who were celebrated for their musicality are now omitted. In other words, the Grammy’s have failed to celebrate hip hop. Also, those phenomenal singers/musicians in R&B are left out of a lot of the categories, as well. Don’t get me wrong, I love music from all people. However, after watching the Grammy’s for the past few years it has been very disappointing. It is really interesting that Diddy would speak out against the show, especially since he has been the recipient of a few Grammy awards in the past. It sounds like Diddy was fed up. And, Diddy did not hold back his discontent with the award show.
Diddy puts Grammy’s on notice you
I totally agree with Diddy. Not only did he blast the Grammy’s unfair practices but he issued them an ultimatum. It was during his speech at Clive Davis’ white – hot pre Grammy celebration that he took the time to ridicule the Grammy’s, as reported by The Washington Post. In fact, Diddy received an standing ovation from his music peers. Some of hip hop’s pioneers such as , Jay Z and his wife and musical genius in her own right, Beyonce were on their feet applauding Diddy. Here is some of what the 50 minute speech entailed:
” So I say this with love to the Grammy’s because you really need to know this, every year y’all be killing us man. Man, I’m talking about the pain. I’m talking speaking for all these artists here, the producers, the executives,”he said.”The amount of time it takes to make these records, to pour your heart into it, and you just want an even playing field.”
In addition, Diddy gave the Grammy’s 365 days to get their act together. I am not sure whether they so called committee members were listening to Diddy. However, his speech sure is going to stir the pot, so to speak.
