Wyclef Jean was not impressed by former President Trump’s debate with Vice President Kamala Harris. During the discussion, Trump made claims about Haitian immigrants.
Donald claimed Haitian immigrants are eating neighborhood pets in Ohio, which did not sit well with Wyclef. According to TMZ, Wyclef has responded to Donald’s claims.
The Grammy-winning artist, born in Haiti and raised in the United States, emphasized this homeland’s rich culture, resilience, and beauty.
He also highlighted Haitians as good US citizens and that they should not be disrespected. He went on to say,
“One of our greatest assets in America is that we are a country of immigrants,” Clef says. “I speak from the heart when I say, Haitian people living in the U.S. are good neighbors and good people. We care about humanity. We care about our neighbors.”
The musician’s passionate response resonated with many frustrated by Trump’s divisive language. While Donald ranted on and on, he failed to address the issues.
As we all know, Wyclef is proud of his heritage and continues championing Haiti and Haitian immigrants. So, we can see why he would be upset about Donald Trump’s negative comments.
Trump’s Insult To Haiti
Donald Trump’s derogatory comments about Haitians went viral after the debate. His remarks sparked outrage and condemnation from politicians, celebrities, and activists worldwide.
Many saw his words as a reflection of his racist views and a lack of empathy towards marginalized communities.
Trump’s disparaging remarks about Haitian immigrants are insulting. It is not what our country needs at this time, especially with the racial divide growing.
In addition, his remarks continue to perpetuate negative stereotypes and misconceptions about the nation.
His comments further fueled the ongoing debate about immigration policy. And the treatment of immigrants from countries that have been unfairly stigmatized.
As Wyclef stated, instead of downgrading Haitians, we should keep our eyes on voting. After all, this is one of the most important elections.
This election will decide the course of policies for the next several years.
