The R&B icon gave us hits like ‘Confessions”, Let It Burn,’ and ‘Here I Stand.’ It was his night to enjoy performances by other great music artists.
There were some very great performances on Sunday, June 30, 2024. Host Taraji P. Henson rapped a new black anthem,‘ It’s All About Us.’
Megan Thee Stallion started the night with a medley of her hits. Other performers followed to celebrate BET’s award show.
During some of the performances, Usher could be seen singing along with the artists. However, Coco Jones serenaded Usher while pulling him to his feet.
There were some unforgettable moments and performances. However, we want to focus on Usher’s speech.
Usher’s Speech Cut Short
As Usher took the stage to accept his award, he delivered a heartfelt speech expressing his gratitude for the recognition. However, just as he got into the meat of his words, his microphone was abruptly muted.
It was as if Usher was saying something BET did not want viewers to hear. And, as I was sitting watching him speak, it was a little disturbing.
What was Usher saying? I said out loud as I hollered at the TV. Indeed, others wanted to know what Usher was saying, as well.
Usher’s fans and viewers were surprised and confused, as it appeared there was technical difficulty. Of course, we heard Usher using curse words, but nothing we had not heard before.
Again, I wondered what in the world was going on. Needless to say, social media is buzzing with thoughts about Usher’s speech.
And, rightfully so, after all, it was his acceptance speech. Usher stood with some iconic producers (Babyface & LA Reid) and (Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis).
These producers were instrumental in helping his career flourish. At the beginning of his speech, Usher thanked his mother, wife, family, and children.
He then talked about fathers receiving accolades for their commitment to their children. When he took off his sunshades, much of his speech was muted.
You can best believe Usher was allegedly spilling some tea. According to NBC New York News, the moments when Usher’s speech went silent are in question.

Fan’s Disappointment Was Evident

Regardless of the cause, fans were united in their disappointment at being deprived of Usher’s words at that moment. Perhaps we may never know what Usher said.
However, I doubt it. We are sure someone in the audience captured the speech on their cell phone. We can expect to hear something about the muted speech soon.
