Busta Rhymes Honored Next Month With 2022 BMI Icon Award
Busta Rhymes is set to receive the BMI Icon Award.
The honor will be bestowed upon him at this year’s BMI R&B/Hip Hop Awards.
Among his successful contributions to the genre include hit records like –
- Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Can See
- Break Ya Neck
- Dangerous
- Gimme Some More
And let’s not forget the collaboration he did with Janet Jackson –
- What’s It Gonna Be?
Though he didn’t come home with the win, in his career Busta has been nominated for 12 Grammy Awards for his work.
However, according to about.com, he is one of the 50 Greatest MCs of our time.
Fans are eagerly anticipating seeing the 5o-year-old rapper/songwriter/record producer pick up this award.
He’s in good company too.
Past recipients of this prestigious award include Janet Jackson, Patti LaBelle, Snoop Dogg, The Jacksons, LA Reid, Babyface, Al Green, Isaac Hayes, James Brown, and more.
Rhymes (real name Trevor George Smith, Jr.) will pick up the trophy next month.
The event will take place at the LIV Nightclub in Miami Beach.
Catherine Brewton, who is the VMI Vice President Creative (Atlanta), serves as the host of the show.
