Singer Brandy Gets A Star On The Hollywood Walk Of Fame

Singer Brandy Gets A Star On The Hollywood Walk Of Fame. Congratulations to the “Vocal Bible” herself! R&B icon and actress Brandy Norwood was officially honored with the 2,839th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame yesterday, Monday, March 30, 2026. The ceremony took place at 6201 Hollywood Boulevard, where she was recognized in the Recording category for her three-decade career spanning music, television, and film.

Brandy’s Well-Deserved Honor

Brandy Norwood’s rise to stardom began in the early 1990s as a teenage prodigy with a powerful, distinctively raspy voice. After a brief stint on the short-lived sitcom Thea, she catapulted to international fame. With the release of her self-titled debut album in 1994, Brandi’s career took off.

Massive hits like “I Wanna Be Down” and “Baby” gave Brandi the distinction of being a “Vocal Bible”. It was primarily because of her technical skill and influence.

Brandy quickly proved to be a multi-talented force. She successfully transitioned into a leading television role as the star of the hit show Moesha in 1996. For many fans and peers, she served as the blueprint for success in the entertainment industry. Balancing a high-profile music career with groundbreaking roles that paved the way for future generations of R&B artists.

In the 1997 television movie Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella, Brandy Norwood made history. She was the first Black actress to portray the iconic princess on screen. This was a groundbreaking production. And, to solidify Brandi as a star, she was accompanied by mega-star Whitney Houston. Whitney played Cinderella’s Fairy Godmother.

That production of Cinderella is celebrated for its diverse “color-blind” casting.  It still remains a cultural touchstone for many who saw it as the blueprint for success in entertainment. Her performance was lauded for its warmth and vocal prowess. Not to mention, her legacy in the role recently came full circle when she reprised the character in the 2024 film Descendants: The Rise of Red.

Therefore, Brandy getting one of the most prestigious honors for entertainers was amazing. Furthermore, Brandy’s musical prowess, coupled with her acting abilities, is nothing to wink at. To say the least, Brandi not only set the blueprint but she shattered the glass ceiling.

Ceremony Highlights

  • Guest Speakers: Longtime friend and collaborator Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds and actress/producer Issa Rae delivered touching tributes.

  • A “Full Circle” Moment: During her acceptance speech, Brandy reflected on being a young girl growing up in Hollywood and dreaming of one day “singing her way” onto one of those stars.

  • Notable Attendees: She was joined by family—including her daughter Sy’rai, her brother Ray J, and parents Sonja and Willie Norwood—as well as peers like Monica,
