Spotify’s Head of Urban Music, Carl Chery, spoke about the state of hip-hop, as stated by Hip Hop DX.

Both agree that hip-hop needs to take on a new direction.

In other words, there is a lack of leadership in hip-hop’s direction.

Furthermore, Trippie claims hip-hop has become “too divided.”

The rapper acknowledged that there will always be competition in the industry.

What seems to be top in hip-hop music is Reggaeton and Country.

However, the shift in hip-hop could be because Travis Scott and Lil Uzi Vert’s albums are not out.

Perhaps, things may take a turn once the big names in hip-hop put out new music.
