He was in California for a singing engagement. This lawsuit claims that Sean failed to pay for watches he purchased for $356k.
A judgment was entered against Sean in 2016 and 2022. However, Sean allegedly did not meet his payment obligations.
Attorney Dennis Card gave a statement saying,
“I filed a lawsuit against Sean Kingston,” attorney Dennis Card told PEOPLE. “A detective in Broward County read my lawsuit and contacted me, and so we went down and gave, with my client, a recorded statement and an affidavit.” He added that they’ve been “waiting on this raid for more than two months now.”
In addition, Sean is being sued by Ver Ver Entertainment. According to USA Today, Sean failed to pay for a 232-inch TV and premium sound system.
Known for his catchy tunes and charismatic personality, Kingston’s legal troubles have surprised many.
Sean’s Mother Was Arrested At His Home In Florida
Earlier Thursday, Sean’s mother, Janice Turner, was arrested at his home in Florida. However, it appears Janice was arrested for a legal matter. While details of the two arrests are sketchy, we know both were taken into custody.
CBS News reports that Janice is allegedly in trouble for theft and fraud. Several officers were spotted at the home in Broward County. A SWAT team served the arrest and search warrant.
Janice was taken into custody without incident. According to the complaint, Sean persuaded the company to accept a lower down payment and credit toward $150K of entertainment equipment.
The rented home was used for Sean to do promotional videos—at least, that is what was alleged. Sean used these promotional videos for Justin Beiber’s collaborations.
We don’t know if any information about Justin Beiber’s collaborations is accurate, making this situation even messier.
Sean and his mother could face serious charges. If they are both found guilty, prison time or restitution is inevitable.
