Monique Wins Settlement With Netflix. The racial discrimination lawsuit is finally over. Her attorney Michael Parks said the lawsuit has been  “amicably resolved.” In other words, Monique has won.

In fact, the streaming network before a judge stepped in. However, we don’t the settlement entails. But you can best believe Monique was satisfied. Otherwise, she would have waited for the court to decide.

It was back in 2018 when Monique was offered $500,000 for a network comedy special. Of course, the Academy Award winner declined the offer, as reported by The Guardian. She quickly pointed out that comedian Amy Schumer was paid at least $10 million.

Monique felt Schumer was offered more because of color. As a result, Monique alleged Netflix underpays black entertainers. Rightfully so. For one thing, Monique is a veteran comedian. Not only that, Monique has won an Oscar for her work.

Also, Monique is a well-sought-after comedian. Therefore, she should have been paid her worth. According to Monique,

“I could accept what I felt was pay discrimination or I could stand up for those who came before me and those who will come after me. I chose to stand up.”

Netflix denied her allegations. Nevertheless, it did not stop Monique from filing the discrimination lawsuit. When it was all said and done, Monique prevailed. Hopefully, Netflix will pay each entertainer what they are worth.
