Mase Shares His Thoughts About Stephen A Smith’s Comments

Mase Shares His Thoughts About Stephen A Smith’s Comments. Many are aware of the ongoing war between Jaylen Brown and Stephen A. Smith. However, it was unexpected to see rapper and podcaster Mase weigh in on the situations. Nonetheless, Mase has shared his views on the ongoing saga between Jaylen and Stephen A.

Mase Fires Back After Stephen A. Smith

Things have reached a boiling point in the ongoing feud between Stephen and Jaylen Brown. The Celtics star is being defended by sports commentator Mase. And, we are there for it all.

It all came to a head recently with Jaylen unleashing an NSFW tirade against Stephen A. Smith during a live stream. He was allegedly heard criticizing Smith’s journalistic integrity. Smith issued what many perceived as a direct public threat. Some saw it as a response to Mase, who used his platform to stand up for the Celtics guard.

The Origin of the Beef: “Favorite Year” vs. First-Round Exit

The bad blood reignited shortly after the Boston Celtics blew a 3-1 series lead.  And they were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs by the Philadelphia 76ers.

Despite the disappointing finish. Brown took to his Twitch stream to express that the 2025–26 campaign was the “favorite year of my basketball career.”

Citing his enjoyment of watching younger teammates grow and seeing Jayson Tatum battle back from adversity.

Stephen A. Smith heavily criticized the statement on First Take. Blasting the Finals MVP for celebrating a season that ended in an early exit. Brown quickly fired back on Sunday, stating:

“You want me to be quiet and stop streaming? Well, I want you to be quiet and get off these networks, because you’re not using your platform to do real journalism. You’re using your platform to use clickbait.”

Stephen A. Smith Warns Jaylen Brown to “Be Careful”

Unwilling to back down. Smith used his Monday morning broadcast on ESPN to deliver a sharp warning shot back at Jaylen Brown. In a tense segment, Smith told Brown to “be careful what you wish for.” Allegedly, hinting at behind-the-scenes information he has chosen not to report.

“You really want me to start reporting on that level?” Smith asked rhetorically on air. “Locker room? How might the organization think about you? How does the city feel about you? How Jayson Tatum may or may not feel about you?”

Mase Steps In: “An Egromaniac”

Seeing an establishment media figure publicly threaten a prominent Black athlete didn’t sit well with Mase. Speaking out on the situation, the rap icon-turned-sports analyst blasted Smith’s handling of it, calling him out for an inflated sense of self-importance.

Mase pointed out that Stephen A. Smith often acts like an “egomaniac who thinks the whole world of sports revolves around him,”

Noting that Smith incorrectly attributes the massive traffic generated by ESPN’s multi-billion-view network entirely to his own name.

Furthermore, Mase highlighted a troubling pattern in the commentator’s behavior. Taking aim, noting that Smith repeatedly finds himself in toxic, deeply personal feuds.

And, in part, it is with strong-willed, independent players. He noted that Brown joins a list of athletes—including Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and Lonzo Ball—who have all openly pushed back against Smith’s style of television journalism.

With both sides digging in, the clash highlights a growing divide between traditional sports personalities.  These appear to rely on anonymous sources and modern athletes who demand total control over their own narratives.
