Thousands Of Nike’s Burned After Endorsing Colin Kaepernick!!

On the Uncensored Truth Podcast with host O’God and Sam Ant the huge discussion was about   National Football League quarterback  Colin Kaepernick and how he ended up in the middle of a of controversy. Kaepernick took it upon himself to sit during the pre season game while the National Anthem was being sung.

Back story: In 2016, Kaepernick started a movement that put people in the US on different sides of the fence. The very controversial move Kaepernick  take a knee during one of his games was both phenomenal and very controversial.  However, it created a fire storm during every game thereafter.

Controversial take a knee protest by Kaepernick

Former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick has willing immersed himself in to a controversial move when her refused to stand for the National Anthem. Kaepernick reasoning behind the move was due to the wrongdoings against African Americans and minorities in the United States. The first time he did not stand was during a pre season game with Green Bay Packers, according to NFL News.

In recent years, there has been a lot of killing of African Americans by police in the United States. On of the most prolific deaths which sparked the Black Lives Matter Movement was the killing of Travon Martin.  After the death of Martin many African Americans and other minority groups stood with Martin’s parents to protest the inhuman killings of blacks.

Kaepernick wanted to believed that by standing against racial injustice he would garner the attention to get the NFL and other sports involved in putting a stop to the senseless killings of African American people that police were getting away with in the US.

NFL players and some team owners joined the protest

Soon after Kaepernick started the protest many NFL players and some team owners joined with him. During season games whenever the National Anthem was played those who stood for racial injustice would sit or kneel. This was a very powerful show of solidarity, especially coming from team owners. In his own words, Kaepernick explained why he took such a controversial stand against racial injustice:

“I am not going to stand up to sow pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color,” To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way, There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.”

This was a very courageous step for Kaepernick, especially since he would be a free agent soon. But there were some fans, players and team owners that felt Kaepernick was being disrespectful. So they started a backlash by condemning what Kaepernick and others were doing. The controversy became very intense. When  Kaepernick became a free agent he was not picked up by any NFL team. However, Kaepernick never lost his stride. He continues his stand against racial injustice.

Nike’s new campaign ad endorses Kaepernick integrity to stand amidst adversity

Fast forward to today and we find that Nike has decided to enlist the help of Kaepernick in their new advertising campaign. In August 2018, the sneaker and athletic apparel giant Nike has endorsed Kaepernick by using him in their campaign ad.

“Believe in something. Even if it means sacrificing everything.”

It is important to note, that Nike is top partners with the NFL. So deciding to use Kaepernick is a  genius move on their part. For one it keeps the Black Lives Movement and Take A Knee Movement relevant. And it forces the NFL to take another look at the policy changes they put in place against  any players right to protest. Also, they may have to re-think giving out fines to players who do choose to protest the National Anthem.

Thousands of Nike’s burned after Kaepernick endorsed by Nike

However, just as Nike is making headway with the ad campaign with Kaepernick some have chosen to oppose their decision. Some people took to social media and showed the burning of apparel and Nike sneakers.

Here is what people may not realize is Kaepernick has a previous contract with Nike. He is in the process of re-negotiating a new deal with the sneaker giant. This is not only a business venture for Nike but Kaepernick as well. So whether some people burn their Nike apparel or not both Nike and Kaepernick stand to make a great deal with this campaign. Let’s not forget that controversy sales.
