Dame Dash Ordered to Sell Roc-A-Fella Shares. The music mogul, better known as Dame Dash, has been ordered by a court to sell his stake in Roc-A-Fella Records, the iconic record label he co-founded with Jay-Z and Kareem “Biggs” Burke in 1995. The legal battle surrounding the company’s ownership has been ongoing for years, and it seems that it has finally been resolved with this latest development.

There has been an embroiled legal dispute between Dame and Jay Z over the ownership of Roc-A-Fella Records, and Dame, the co-founder of the record label, is forced to sell his alleged shares.

Even though Jay Z has not publicly spoken about the issues, Shawn Jay-Z Carter does not want any Roc-A-Fella to be sold. For this reason, Jay and Kareem’Biggs’Burke are pushing back on the sale of shares by Dame.

According to XXL Mag, in January 2019, film producer Josh Webber sued Dame for defamation. Also, Dame was sued for copyright infringement.

A film that Dame and Josh were working on, ‘Dear Frank’ became an issue between the two men. Josh claims Dame was verbally abused and was fired as the director. In addition, Josh claims Dame was allegedly unfit for the position.

Of course, Dame fired back with allegations, saying it was Josh who was ‘trying to take credit for a Black man’s work.”

It all ended with a judge settling the dispute. As reported by Yahoo, Dame has been instructed to auction off $823,000 of his shares. Now, Dame has up to 180 days to pay Josh a substantial amount.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Robert W. Lehrburger ruled that Dame’s one-third ownership in shares must be sold. Although Jay-Z and Kareem dispute, a clause allegedly says the RAF can’t be split and sold.

Nevertheless, Judge Jehrburger has moved forward with his ruling. We are not sure what this means, other than Dame shares will be his no more.

Sadly, if Dame complies with the judge’s orders, his part in RAF is over.

Dame Dash Selling His Shares Ends A Roc-A-Fella Dispute

For many years, RAF was a premiere record label. Both Jay-Z and Dame promoted some of hip-hop’s legendary rappers.

Roc-A-Fella released music by artists Kanye West, Cam’ron Beanie Sigel, Freeway, and Jadakiss. Other rappers, Juelz Santana, and rap groups State Property and The Diplomats were all artists on RAF.

Let’s not forget that Jay-Z was having difficulty getting signed, as stated by Wiki. Therefore, Jay-Z, Dame, and Kareem formed Roc-A-Fella Records. A lot of Jay-Z’s famous albums (Reasonable Doubt, were promoted by

As you can see, the RAF was a force to be reckoned with in the 90s. Furthermore, RAF was a blueprint that other labels followed. Therefore, it must be hard for Dame to part with his legacy.
