Former Eagle DeSean Jackson Is Named In A Lawsuit

Former Eagle DeSean Jackson Is Named In A Lawsuit. The incident that is alleged to have occurred in the locker room on the Delaware State University campus is a bit concerning. Although we don’t know whether Coach Jackson was in the locker room at the time. It may be the end of his career if the allegations against the University stick.

Delaware State Football Program Under Fire

DeSean Jackson’s transition to the head coaching role at Delaware State University was an unexpected move that began while he was serving as the offensive coordinator at Woodrow Wilson High School.

The process was sparked by a series of persistent phone calls and connections from childhood friends and colleagues, who eventually convinced him to fly to Delaware for a meeting with university officials. After an intense 48-hour interview process where he competed against several high-profile candidates, the university officially hired him on December 27, 2024, seeing him as the right leader to rebuild the program and inspire the local community.

If you were a Philadelphia Eagles fan, then you know who Desean Jackson represents. So, Desean being chosen as Delaware State’s football coach was incredible.

Now, to see that there has been a lawsuit involving DeSean is unbelievable. Former Philadelphia Eagles star is facing a serious legal battle. A lawsuit filed in late April 2026 by former DSU defensive back Malachi Biggs alleges that a toxic “tough guy” culture within the program led to a violent locker room assault that left him with permanent, life-altering injuries.

According to Black Enterprise, the complaint, filed in Delaware Superior Court, names Jackson, the university, assistant coach Travis Clark, and fellow student-athlete Anthony Hebert as defendants.

The Alleged Incident

According to the lawsuit, the incident occurred on November 19, 2025, before an early morning practice. Biggs claims that teammate Anthony Hebert confronted another player over a social media post before turning his attention to Biggs.

The filing alleges the following:

  • The Chokehold: Hebert allegedly placed Biggs in a chokehold and told him to “tap out.”

  • Loss of Consciousness: Despite Biggs’ repeated attempts to tap out and free himself, Hebert allegedly continued the chokehold until Biggs lost consciousness.

  • The Fall: Once unconscious, Hebert reportedly dropped Biggs, who fell face-first onto the locker room floor

“Catastrophic” Injuries

The resulting injuries described in the lawsuit are severe. Biggs reportedly suffered:

  • Multiple jaw fractures and a deep laceration to his chin required emergency surgery and a metal plate.

  • A severed ligament under his tongue.

  • Irreparable damage to at least 12 teeth, requiring extensive dental work and extractions.

Biggs has reportedly remained out of school since the incident, continuing his recovery in North Carolina. His legal team at Morgan & Morgan states these injuries may be career-ending and have “permanently derailed his life.”

Allegations of a “Toxic” Culture

The lawsuit goes beyond the physical altercation, accusing Jackson and his staff of fostering a dangerous environment. The complaint alleges:

  • Gang-Associated Slang: The coaching philosophy reportedly relied on “gang-associated slang” and a mentality that encouraged players to react violently to perceived “disrespect.”

  • Lack of Discipline: Biggs claims that Hebert was never punished academically or athletically and was even allowed to play in a game just three days after the assault.

  • “Horseplay” Dismissal: The filing argues that leadership failed to supervise the locker room and dismissed acts of bullying as mere “horseplay.”

DeSean Jackson’s Response

DeSean Jackson, who took over the DSU program in January 2025, has firmly denied the allegations. In a statement posted to his Instagram, he defended the program’s culture:

“I take the safety, well-being, and development of every student-athlete in the Delaware State University football program seriously. I have never fostered or encouraged hazing, bullying, or any violent environment, and that has never been the culture I have worked to build.”

Delaware State University has declined to comment on the pending litigation. Biggs is seeking compensatory and punitive damages for medical bills, pain and suffering, and lost future earnings.
